Charge Controller and Diversion Controller.
Charge controller for wind and solar alternative energy systems.
Everybody calls them something different, but if you have a wind turbine, a windmill, a wind generator, or wind turbine generator, then
we have something for you. You may know our product by just as many different names like wind turbine charge controller, wind charge
controller, wind generator charge controller, turbine charge controller, diversion controller, charge regulator, diversion regulator, or
something else. We just call it a charge controller because you can use it with solar and hydro power too!
If you are charging 12 volt batteries then you should be using our charge controller to protect them
from overcharging. Our charge controller will redirect charging power to a diversion load when your batteries are full, then
automatically re-apply the charging power to your batteries when they are low again. Our charge controller uses a relay to direct the
power to your batteries or diversion load so there is no amperage limit! You just use a bigger relay or multiple relays to
handle more power! That means that a single charge controller could control multiple wind turbines, multiple solar arrays,
or any combination of wind, solar, or hydro power!
It is also very important to always keep a load connected to your wind turbine to prevent the blades from over-speeding. This is known
as a diversion load and can be a simple "power dump" or can be something useful like a heating element.
By using a useful load with solar
you can do something with the extra solar power once your batteries are full instead of wasting it like most controllers do!
Attention alternative energy do-it-yourselfer's:
If you ever considered building a power generator like a wind turbine or a hydro turbine but were discouraged by the
electronic controls, then get out your toolbox because this one is for you! We are proud to introduce our microprocessor controlled
charge
controller. When wind or hydro turbines are not driving a load or charging batteries, it is important to keep
a "dummy" load connected to them to prevent the blades or turbine wheel from over-speeding and self destructing.
Our newly released charge
controller does exactly that. Our controller will monitor your battery voltage
level and divert power to a dummy load once the batteries are fully charged. Once battery voltage drops, charging
power will be reapplied. With our easy to follow instructions, completing the electrical part of your project
will be a snap!
