Construction Details Continued
Attach the pipe to the base plate
Thread pipe into the base plate mounted to the 2x4 frame. Use Loctite threadlocker on the threads to prevent
them from working loose.
Connect the wires to the motor
Be sure that the wires you plan to use are long enough. Once attached to the motor, the wire will be fed through the
tower and will need to be long enough to reach the battery, wherever it is located. Avoid splicing wires together
to acheive the required length.
Feed the wires through the pivot and tower
Feed the wires through the hole that you drilled in the 2x4 and through the pivot pipe. Secure the wires at the
top where they enter the drilled hole. Use a wire strap or glue. Be sure that the wires will not bind or be rubbed
through the insulation. Feed all of the wire through the tower when you are finished.
Put up the wind turbine
Grease the pivot pole liberally. Slide the pivot pole down into the tower pole while somebody else pulls the
remaining wire through.
Make electrical connections
The required electrical connections are all detailed in our charge controller
installation instructions. A hard copy of these instructions is supplied with all charge controller purchases or may be viewed online
by clicking here. When you have finished making the electrical connections
return here to complete installation.
Use caution on this step
Only complete this step when the wind is NOT BLOWING
Attach the hub
WAIT UNTIL THE WIND IS NOT BLOWING. This step can be very dangerous even if a light breeze is blowing.
Use extreme caution when attaching the hub! Slide the hub in place and tighten the two set-screws on the hub.
